What you will see on your tour
The museum covers many aspects of nautical history. The main display is dedicated to both the Royal Australian Navy and the Merchant Navy.

The Dennis Gist Gallipoli Room
The Gallipoli Room depicts the story of the Australian submarine AE2 and its courageous venture through the heavily mined Dardanelles in 1915.

The AE2 portrait
The artist Susan Beveridge with the portrait of AE2 captain Lieutenant Commander Henry Stoker.

HMAS Australia II diorama
The unveiling of the HMAS Australia II diorama by Commodore Greg Yorke and three former crew members of HMAS Australia.

The RAN George Cross
Attending the RAN George Cross unveiling was Australia's Victoria Cross recipient Warrant Officer Keith Payne VC, AM, who earned his medal in 1969 during the Vietnam War.

Bofors guns
Twin and single barrel Bofors guns.

Ship models
Some of the beautiful ship models on display. Many are radio controlled.
Wonderful Western Port
Just a six-minute drive away is the major township of Hastings. The historic fishing village was originally a major source of fresh fish for Melbourne. Established in the early 1800s, it is still a major fishing attraction for amateur fishers.
There are many fine eateries in the town, including the Marina Hotel with its sea views over the marina. The Western Port Hotel and the Kings Creek Hotel both have excellent meals. If it's a light lunch you are after, there are a number of very good takeaway outlets. Buy lunch, go down to the waterfront, enjoy the view and take a leisurely stroll along the pier.
